AquaBase is a plug-and-play unit for the surface platform, be it a boat or a pier. AquaBase is a splash-proof, small-size package that can be easily carried by a person to locations where they need to communicate with other modems. There are connectors on the casing to plug in the dunking hydrophone transducer (Aqua Trans) and serial cable. Also included is a rechargeable battery, socket and cable for recharging the battery, as well as a keyed on/off switch.
